Today’s Guest: Lea Thompson, actress, Back to the Future trilogy, “Caroline in the City”
Actress Lea Thompson, perhaps best-known for starring in the NBC sitcom “Caroline in the City” and the Back to the Future movies with Michael J. Fox, is swallowing her pride and appearing on Mr. Media Interviews!
Here is the Evelyn Wood version of Thompson’s career, courtesy of IMDB.com: Her first role was in the movie Jaws 3-D (1983) as a water ski bunny, although she couldn’t swim or ski—and still can’t. Her next role was in All the Right Moves (1983) in which she worked opposite Tom Cruise.
LEA THOMPSON podcast excerpt: “‘Howard the Duck’ is not on my demo real. Call me crazy…”
Thompson’s big break came from the first Back to the Future (1985). It was the biggest hit of 1985, and Thompson was suddenly a wanted actress. Director Howard Deutch offered her a part in his next movie, Some Kind of Wonderful, but she initially refused it. Instead she made Back to the Future II (1989), but made Deutch a happy man by marrying him—and starring in Back to the Future III (1990).
From 1995-99, Thompson starred in the NBC-TV sitcom, “Caroline in the City,” the saga of a popular cartoonist with wacky friends.
She most recently starred in the “Jane Doe” mystery series on the Hallmark Channel and is in pre-production on three new movies for 2009: Prettyface, Rock Slyde and Splinterheads. And, of course, she starred in Marvel’s first movie based on a comic book, Howard the Duck.
