Mr. Media is recorded live before a studio audience of cheating wives who blamed the whole affair on me but I swear they started it… in the NEW new media capitol of the world… St. Petersburg, Florida!
Very simple rule of thumb in my house: I won’t cheat on my wife and I expect she would not cheat on me.
She knows my view of cheating: if it ever happens, it’s the death penalty for our marriage. No second chances from me, no mea culpas, nothing.
It’ll be 24 years in just a few weeks and I like to think faithfulness has been a good policy for both of us.

Of course, everyone knows that married couples cheat all the time. And in movies and on television, it’s almost a requirement in every storyline that somebody is sneaking around on someone else.
Cheating has become one of the soap opera-ish ‘B’ plots in NBC’s new musical, “Smash,” which airs Mondays at 10 p.m. And the person whose character is suffering the most as a result of his wife’s skunking around is my guest today, Brian d’Arcy James. On the show, he is married to Debra Messing’s character, Julia, and we—and he—discovered she’s an unfaithful slut. And not just recently but for an additional five-year period arlier in their marriage, as well.
Brian was on Mr. Media a few weeks back and I honestly felt bad for him and his character when this story revealed itself. I like happy, fully functioning families. But that said, I hope he shows Julia the door for good. She deserves it!
