Today’s Guest: Steve Yerrid, Tampa attorney and author of The Making of A Championship Heart.
Mr. Media is recorded live before a studio audience of ambulance chasers who may dream Steve Yerrid-size dreams but they’ll never match his Championship Heart… in the NEW new media capital of the world, St. Petersburg, Florida!
Like the New York Yankees need any more books extolling their virtues!
Really, Steve Yerrid? Really?
If you want heart, trying winning the America League East with a Tampa Bay-size budget.
Oh, that’s right; the Tampa Bay Rays did that for two out of the last three years.

Okay, now that I got that off my chest, I think I can be a fair host. Because Tampa super-attorney Steve Yerrid – one of the lead lawyers when Florida won a court judgment of $11 billion from tobacco companies – put together a pretty remarkable coffee table book called The Making of a Championship Heart: Lessons Learned from Baseball & Life.
STEVE YERRID podcast excerpt: “In the courtroom, I’m known not to take prisoners. I give it everything I’ve got; I’ve usually got a family depending on me to right a wrong. That’s s lot of pressure. Friendship is not a game I play in the courtroom.”
Yerrid, who called the late George Steinbrenner a personal friend for three decades, used his unique access to his favorite team to interview current and past players in search of the secret to their inspiration. He then cleverly combined their words of wisdom with color and black & white images of them in action.
Whether you’re a fan of the damn Yankees or just interested in better understanding what motivates a winner, there is a lot to like in The Making of a Championship Heart. And it doesn’t hurt that Yerrid is pledging 25 percent of the net proceeds from sales of the book to pediatric cancer charities.
