659 Scott Adsit makes 30 Rock producer Pete Hornberger unforgettable! PODCAST INTERVIEW

Today’s Guest: Scott Adsit, star of NBC’s “30 Rock.”

Am I the only one who, when “TGS” producer Pete Hornbergerwalks into and out of a scene on “30 Rock,” thinks of Johnny, the airport control worker in the Airplane! movies? That character, played by Stephen Stucker, stole many a scene Lloyd Bridges was in much the same way that Scott Adsit, who plays Pete, can tear away a moment from any character on the show with a sincerely played line of utter lunacy.

SCOTT ADSIT podcast excerpt: “Occasionally I’ll be walking around by the food table and I’ll hear this beautiful woman’s voice singing some ’70s power ballad. I’ll look up and it will be Tracy Morgan. He has the most beautiful voice and he loves to share it. That keeps my bobber bopping.”

Adsit looks like he would be the normal guy on a set of full-on nutjobs, but he’s clearly one of them.

“30 Rock,” which airs Thursays at 8:30 p.m., is now in its fifth season of socking NBC and network television in general in the jaw. It maintains a consistently high standard for both gentle and fall-down-laughing humor. It is also one of the best sitcoms on the air—now or ever—and every year, it brings home the awards to prove it.

Joining me today to talk about season five is Scott Adsit, making his second visit to our little show.
