Today’s Guest: Doug Wimbish, Adam Falcon, Keith LeBlanc, musicians, live performances
Mr. Media is recorded live before a studio audience of music fans who just hit the motherlode … in the NEW new media capital of the world… St. Petersburg, Florida!
We’ve taken this show to a lot of interesting places thanks to the Internet, including the homes of the rich and famous, a restaurant balcony where a belly dancer wandered into an interview and shook her assets for us, the home kitchen of a TV chef, a Playboy Playmate’s bed, and at least one magic castle.
Today’s show extends the franchise a little further, as Mr. Media has been invited into the Hartford, Connecticut, loft of bass guitarist Doug Wimbish, where a remarkable rehearsal will take place right before our eyes.
Joining us are Wimbish and his friends, drummer Keith LeBlanc and guitarist Adam Falcon.
DOUG WIMBISH podcast excerpt: “Living Colour broke a barrier. Lenny Kravitz broke through. Fishbone broke through. Bad Brains broke through. Living Color was able to get the nod from somebody that was very famous — Mick Jagger. He was able to get them signed to a major label. There is no denying the music and the art of what was going on. Living Colour got a hall pass: ‘Don’t change your channel: it’s four Negroes!’ It was shock and awe. It created a vibe and buzz.”
Separately (and sometimes together) these three men have worked with the Rolling Stones, Living Colour, Whitney Houston, Roberta Flack, the Bee Gees, Peter Gabriel, Eric Clapton, the Original Sugar Hill Rhythm Section, Melle Mel, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, Tack>>Head, Jeff Beck, Joe Satriani, Herb Alpert, Annie Lennox, Madonna, Carly Simon, Al Green, Billy Idol, George Clinton, and James Brown!
They’re together today for their second and final tune-up before playing at Miami Beach’s annual Art Deco Weekend and Music Festival, January 18-20. It will be the first time Falcon has ever played publicly with Wimbish and LeBlanc, and it is sure to be an amazing time. (You can get all the who, what, where and when details at www.ArtDecoWeekend.com )
And you can see even more of Doug Wimbish in March and April when Living Colour reunites once more to tour the United States and Europe in celebration of the 25th anniversary of its landmark LP, Vivid, being released.
Regular Mr. Media viewers and listeners will certainly remember our friend Adam Falcon, who is making his third appearance on the show today and was kind enough to suggest this rare session with his friends. The guys will even perform a pair of songs – “Stealing (In The Name of the Lord)” and “Too Late” — so stick around for that!
(Special thanks to Diane Nilsson and videographer Jaeme Brennan for making this happen on the technical side!)

Living Colour is not “reuniting” . They’ve been reunited since Dec 2000.
Technically, I suppose you’re right. But they do drift apart for several years at a time before getting back together. But I give you credit for posting the fastest response to any new post in my six years of doing podcasts! Thank you for that. And I hope you’ll watch the video.
