Mr. Media is recorded live before a studio audience that includes the loyal staff from Joe Redner’s Mons Venus Club in Tampa … across the bay in the new new media capitol of the world… St. Petersburg, Florida!
Colin and Angie Rowntree thought mail–order might be a good business for them. They started with two very distinct catalog operations back in 1994: one selling Celtic and metaphysical jewelry, the other offering kinky leather gear and adult toys.
You can probably already guess where this story is going.
The adult-oriented business got all the attention, except that “customers” were more interested in looking at the print and online catalogue photos than actually buying the products. (Anyone in an online business can tell you that a pretty girl is worth a dozen bald-headed stooges when it comes to Internet traffic.)
Quickly enough, the business evolved into a membership plan where customers paid an annual fee to look at the company’s unique photos of ladies in leather corsets.
Wasteland.com – really, that’s what they called it – was born. It grew to comprise a wealth of highly specialized, multimedia areas of interest that I’m sure they’ll describe in the conversation that follows.
ANGIE ROWNTREE podcast excerpt: “The reason women have joined SSSH.com is the presentation. There are storylines; there is a reason for the sex happening. It doesn’t feel dirty.”

More recently, Angie Rowntree has developed a website of which they’re both quite proud. It’s called “Shush!” – spelled SSSH.com –and it’s an adult content provider aimed exclusively at the tastes of women. That’s right: porno for women. It’s erotic, but softer and more emotional than the typical site designed for the tastes of men.
There are interest areas such as “Advice Goddess,” “The Boudoir,” “Couples Connection,” and “Girl to Girl.” It also has educational elements that you won’t find in a men’s site because we men, of course, already know it all.
And it’s all coming to you direct from a quiet part of New England that will not be named by me so the folks with pitchforks and torches can’t find them on my watch.
