I saw the title of Tom Madigan’s new book, Snake vs. Mongoose: How a Rivalry Changed Drag Racing Forever, and instantly knew I wanted the author as a guest on this show.

But it wasn’t until I thumbed through the book that I fully remembered why the little voice in my head thought I’d enjoy this so much:

Hot Wheels!

That’s right guys, don’t we all remember the two greatest Mattel Hot Wheels toy cars of all time, the drag racers made famous by Don “the Snake” Prudhomme and Tom “the Mongoose” McEwen?

I spent hours upon hours in my bedroom at the top of the stairs back in North Brunswick, New Jersey, constructing crazy track patterns, loop-de-loops and high-banked curves for my Hot Wheels cars. And the best was when the track sent them cascading out my down the stairs.
