What red-blooded man’s heart doesn’t start racing at the “Speed Racer” theme?

My guest today is part of the revival of the immortal Speed Racer. He is IDW comic book writer Arie Kaplan, and with the release of the Wachowski Brothers’ big screen, live action adaptation of the Japanese anime classic, I thought it would be fun to talk a little Speed today.

We’ll also touch on some of Arie’s other work. He is a regular contributor to MAD magazine, for example, and also wrote the non-fiction book, Masters of the Comic Book Universe Revealed! This fall, his second book, From Krakow to Krypton, will be published.

  1. What red blooded man doesn’t think Christina Ricci is hot!!! Well ok, not to come off like a pig, I swear I just bought a new computer through the website http://www.nonprofitshoppingmall.com and a percent of my sale went to Christina Ricci’s favorite nonprofit group RAINN (Rape Abuse and Incest National Network). Pretty cool site and see I’m a good guy. But still, she has grown up nicely and I love the bob.

  2. The Wachowski bros certainly put a lot of effort into making Speed Racer… the movie overall looked and felt like a cross between anime, a kaleidoscope, that Flintstones movie, a video game and the Dukes of Hazard
