Katie McGrath, MERLIN star: Mr. Media Radio Interview

Katie McGrath plays Lady Morgana in the new NBC dramatic import, “Merlin.” The shows airs every Sunday at 8 p.m.

Katie is a relative newcomer to acting, as I understand it, although American audiences may have seen her in an episode of Showtime’s popular drama, “The Tudors,” before she landed a plum role on “Merlin.” Did I say plum? That’s not quite accurate, because she’s more of a peach!

Uh, did I just say that out loud?

Sometimes I embarrass myself.

Anyway, Merlin has a secret—he’s a wizard, a Harry Potter in training. Morgana is on to him… or is she?

For NBC, it means trying on a Canadian drama series called “The Listener,” starring Craig Olejnik and Ennis Esmer as paramedic partners. If that sounds a little like the NBC hit from the 1970s, “Emergency!” wait for the catch: Olejnik’s character, Toby Logan, is a telepath.

I’m a little worried about Matt Lauer and Meredith Viera this morning because it’s 8:40 a.m. on a Wednesday morning and my guests are two of the producers of NBC’s “Today Show.”

Who will be whispering in Matt’s ear when it’s time to throw it to Al Roker?

How will Meredith Viera know to cut short the cooking demonstration and go to commercial?

Ann Curry? I suspect she can manage on her own, right?

Mary Ann Zoellner and Alicia Ybarbo are Emmy Award-winning producers. But they’re also co-authors of a new book, Today’s Moms: Essentials for Surviving Baby’s First Year. So while interns run their show, I am sure they’re going to tell us that survival starts with a renewable prescription for Valium.

Apparently, there is something screwy with America’s many state lotteries. This Sunday at 7 p.m. on “Dateline NBC,” correspondent Chris Hansen and his team investigate lottery scams.

Hansen, one of the best-known reporters at NBC News and “Dateline NBC” skyrocketed to prominence as the host of “To Catch a Predator.” If you’re preying on underage boys or girls, you don’t want to see Chris Hansen taking the steps to your front door two at a time.

With this lottery investigation, why do I have the feeling Hansen and Co. found their way back to his old Tampa stomping grounds—that’s right, right here in the new media capital of the world—to find a story of evil-doing and weirdness?

Just a hunch.
